Flan
1 litre (4 cups) milk
4 eggs
200 g (3/4 cup) sugar

Topping
1 pear per person
200 ml (3/4 cup) maple syrup
100 ml (1/3 cup) water
1. Steam flan in individual dishes using a bain marie. Peel and poach pears in a mixture of water and maple syrup. Slice pears. Unmold flan from dish onto plate and top with sliced pears. Serve with maple syrup.
