Maple Walnut Syrup
1 1/2 cups maple syrup
3/4 cup walnuts

Treats
3 egg yolks
1/3 cup maple sugar
1 tbsp. milk
1/3 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 packet died yeast
1. Maple Walnut Syrup
In a pan, bring the syrup to boil, and simmer until it has reduced sufficiently to coat the surface of a plate; add the walnuts and set aside.
2. Treats
Preheat the oven to 350°F. In the bowl of an electric mixture, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until pale. Gradually fold in the milk, flour baking powder, yeast and stiffly-beaten egg whites.

Place spoonful in buttered miniature muffin pans and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden. Cool for 5 minutes and turn out; coat with the hot maple walnut syrup. Serve the treats on their own or with ice cream.
