In a pan of boiling water, poach the sausages for 5 minutes. Remove and drain.

In a large skillet or pan, heat the oil over medium heat and brown the sausages
for 2 to 3 minutes. Once they are nicely browned, add the onions and garlic.

Pour in the beer and maple syrup. Add the diced potato and carrot, beans, gherkins
and parsley. Season; cover and simmer for 15 minutes until the potatoes are cooked.
